No Walls Necessary

StreetChurch STORIES

People often ask how StreetChurch started. Here is the answer:

On one of our regular outings to Café Borrone, I noticed a group of people huddled together on the benches at the bus station and felt led to go over and meet them. As I approached the group and asked if I could sit down, one man asked me, "Are you a reporter?" I told him I wasn’t. I just wanted to hang out and get to know them if that was okay.

That night I heard life stories filled with hurts, joys, lost dreams, and hopes from amazing men and women. Some of these men and women happened to be homeless. Tears fill my eyes when I think back to that night and the precious nights that followed because the Menlo Park bus station crowd changed my life. Never did I imagine that listening to God that night would plant the seed in my life to eventually work in full-time inner-city ministry. I never dreamed that God would faithfully continue to send people to the bus station to meet needs and love people because of that one night.
